I went to book club again last night, and it was a total success! There were only three of us there (There were only five of us there last time), but I actually preferred the small group. It was casual but very intellectual. I'm spoiled to have found such an intelligent group.
We discussed The Secret Life of Bees, which wasn't my favorite book of all time, but it was an insight into a world I have no experience in (the South in the 60's). It told the story of the challenges but in a mysterious and somewhat magical way. It was a good book to discuss.
Our next book is The Faith Club. (Has anyone read it?) It's about a Christian, a Muslim, and a Jew who start by trying to write an interfaith children's book but realize they have differences they need to sort out first. They started a Faith Club, and this book tells of their experience. I'm excited. This book club definitely brings me books I wouldn't have read or even known about, so we'll see how it goes.
I'm also in the middle of Jane Austen's Emma, so I will finish that one first. I love 18th century sass. I love Jane Austen. It's great. And, is anyone on Good Reads? I just got an account, and I want your book recommendations, so add me as a Good Reads friend and have a great weekend!
I think I'm going to start going to book club this week as well. I am so excited! Also, thank you for helping me discover Good Reads. I just created an account!
