Becoming a Cake Decorator: Union Jack

I don't know about you, but I LOVED the royal wedding.  The dress-GORGEOUS!  My sister Janelle is staying with us for a week, and we knew we had to celebrate.  We didn't watch it in the wee hours of Friday morning.  Instead, we stayed up till 3AM Friday night watching the wedding/behind the scenes.  It was way fun (And then we slept in on Saturday instead of going to work tired on Friday!)  We made this British flag cake in honor of the festivities.  Twizzlers pull 'n peel for the red lines and blueberries for in-between.  We tried a new chocolate cake recipe which is listed below.  I obviously didn't eat it, but the gluten eaters in the house enjoyed it!

Chocolate Buttermilk Cake:

Blend 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of flour
Boil 1 cup water, 2 cubs margarine, and 4 Tbsp cocoa
Pour over sugar and flour mixture and stir together
Add 2 eggs, 1 Tbsp. vanilla, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 cup buttermilk
Mix together and pour into a greased pan

Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes

What did you think of the royal wedding?
