Becoming a Cook: Homemade Mac & Cheese

You'll never eat Kraft again!

Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
6 C. Water

2 T. Butter
1/2 t. Salt
1 1/4 C. Milk
1 1/2 C. Elbow macaroni
2 T. Flour
Pepper to taste
1 1/2 C. Grated mild cheddar cheese

In large pan, bring the water to a boil.  Add the macaroni and cook 10 minutes or until tender.  Carefully drain the water off the macaroni. Rinse it with cold water, drain it again, and set it aside.  In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.  Using a wooden spoon, stir in the flour and the salt and pepper.  Slowly mix in the milk, and cook and stir with a wire whisk until thick and bubbly.  Add the cheese and stir until it is blended.  Mix the macaroni into the cheese sauce.  Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
