Becoming a Mother

Nothing exciting to report on the adoption front. We are in the fun waiting to be chosen phase. (I thought infertility had taught me patience, but waiting for adoption has shown me that that is clearly not the case lol). Until I have great news to share, enjoy this quote by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland that I love:

"To the women within the sound of my voice who dearly want to be mothers and are not, I say through your tears and ours on that subject, God will yet, in days that lie somewhere ahead, bring ‘hope to the desolate heart.’ As prophets have repeatedly taught from this pulpit, ultimately ‘no blessing shall be withheld’ from the faithful, even if those blessings do not come immediately. In the meantime we rejoice that the call to nurture is not limited to our own flesh and blood." -Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, May Ensign 1997, “Because She is a Mother

  1. Love you Julie! Be strong. The wait will make you a better Mommy. It took us two years to get Ty and I was literally a few days from calling a fertility doctor when I found out that I was pregnant. I realized that the Lord knew me so well and sent my kids at the perfect time for me. I know that is not comforting coming from someone who has kids but I watch my wonderful sister-in-laws who both adopted and I am in awe of the mothers they are. They have a very special appreciation for their children because of the struggle and pain that you are going through right now. You have so many people who love you and pray for you. I read something on Pinterest the other day. It said, "When you are going through something hard and wonder where God is, remember the teacher is always quiet during a test." Although, I don't think He is silent I do think that times like these force us to look a little harder for His hand in our lives. I hope I don't sound preachy. I just love you and know that your struggle is deeper than what you can portray on a public blog.

  2. It took us a lot longer than we hoped to get pregnant, and I always looked back on this quote! I can only begin to imagine your heartache and am so impressed by your deep faith. I'm praying everyday that you get chosen and can't wait to hear when you get to be a mom!!
