Becoming a Soccer Coach

On Saturday we had our last soccer game. Afterwards, we had a little awards ceremony where I gave the girls their medals and certificates. It was so much fun coaching this team. The girls were great, and I just love being near the game.

I'm learning a lot from this coaching experience.
- Third grade girls can only focus for about ten minutes at a time.
- The toughest kids tend to have older siblings.
- I love being near the game.

I LOVE coaching this team. They're energetic to boot. (My goal is always to harness that energy into the game and not into the many distractions they find lol). The most difficult part so far has been picking a team name. In the end, we had a vote on whether to be the Tigers or the White Tigers. Tigers won by one vote. It was stressful, folks :).

So, funny story, I'm coaching a 3rd grade girl's soccer team, and our first game is tonight. Let's just say I expect great things. :)

I am SO GLAD I took this coaching training! We had our final class on Saturday. I am so painfully sunburned (Even though I wore sunscreen), but it was worth it. We did all these defensive drills, and I was seriously in heaven. How was your weekend? Do you have any classes you are wanting to take?

My feet are calloused and my back is sore, but last night was so much fun! Remember this guy to my right from the greatest movie of all time? He was in charge of the field training last night. Yup, bald, loud, making fun of people who messed up. It felt more like player training than coach's training. I felt like I was at tryouts again, and it was SO AWESOME! I don't usually get all soft on this blog, but you'll have to indulge me, being out on that field, playing with these excellent players, learning from great coaches, having fun, laughin, sweatin, shovin, passin, scorin, mmmm, it was bliss. Say a prayer that I have kids that are good at soccer that I can coach! But for reals. We have class training on Friday and then ALL DAY field training on Saturday. I'm gonna be so sore. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Last night was my first soccer coaching class, and it was sooooo awesome! I can't stop thinking about how fun it was! Our next class is Wednesday night. It's a 'field session,' so we get to PLAY! The teacher said it was really important that we get at least 12 volunteers to participate. No problem! My hand will be the first in the air! I can't wait!!

I registered for a soccer coaching class last night. It's a week long training in June to get the E License! How fun is that? I'm so excited! If you wanna take it with me, let me know!
